Summer 2019: Portraiture Exhibition
June 7, 2019 - September 6, 2019
Artwork Credit: Frank Hyer
Portraiture is perhaps one of the most difficult art forms for artists to produce. To capture the nuances, the likeness or the essence of another human being is maddeningly elusive.
It’s also perhaps the bravest of art forms. For an artist to feel worthy of reproducing an image of their loved one, their idol, themselves at their most vulnerable or a stranger during a fleeting moment of their all-consuming lives is courage at its best.
This group of artists have been chosen for a variety of reasons and every single one of them has recreated a moment in time beautifully and successfully.
In addition to this spectacular artwork we have the indomitable local artist Pamela duLong Williams who has 50 years of experience in portrait painting. Pamela was co-curator of the show with 100 Market Gallery Director, Rebecca Harrison. Pamela, with her joy of the artistic process, will give us a live demonstration starting at 4:00 PM.
